Motorbike Ramps - Buying Guide

Whether you are seeking to loading your motorbike into your shed for storage or you wish to load your motorcycle into your van ready for a trip round the Blakewell Loop or the Cornwall Coastline, we have a ramp solution for you.

Here at The Ramp Factory we offer an extensive range of portable, folding and fixed ramps to allow you to easily load your motorbike over steps, into your van or into your shed. Whether your loading a Royal Enfield Interceptor, Triumph Trident, Yamaha R6, Kawasaki Z900, Honda or Suzuki our extensive range of solutions ensure you can easily and safely load your motorbike.

Step 1 - Key information to identify before you start looking for a ramp

  1. What is your 'load height'? The load height is the vertical height from the ground to where the ramp will rest. For example, the height of the kerb or the height from the pavement to where the ramp will rest on the back of your van. It is important to find out this height as this will help you identify the required ramp length needed to achieve a smooth gradient during loading. For loading, we recommend a maximum of a 30% gradient. For example, one of our top selling folding motorbike ramps is designed for a maximum height of 666mm and is 2200mm in length.
  2. What is the maximum weight you are loading? Check the maximum weight of the motorbike. It is also important to consider whether you plan to be on the bike during loading and any further additional weight, for example items carried on the bike.

Step 2 - Additional considerations

  1. Do you plan to be on the bike during loading? There are various types of ramps available, for example when purchasing single loading ramps the user often walks on the pavement alongside the ramp. There are options available where you can sit on the bike during loading, for example our motorcycle ramp kits.
  2. Where do you plan to store the ramps? For example, if you wish to store the ramps is your vehicle you may wish to opt for a folding ramp which can easily be stored during transit.
  3. What weight can you carry? It is of course important to check the weight of the ramp you purchasing to ensure you are able to easily carry the ramp and put this into place. Our motorcycle folding ramps are often the most lightweight solution, starting at 7.5kg per ramp.
  4. Would you prefer a fixed solution? In some instances a fixed ramp solution is preferred, this is especially popular for businesses who are continuously loading and unloading motorbikes from their vehicles. For this we offer a range of fixed van ramps.
