Wheelchair accessories FAQs
What are the portable platforms for?
The Ramp Factory provides portable platforms to be used with most of our ramps to create an L shape layout. This is great for areas where people require a long ramp but do not have the space to fit it. The platform allows you to have two shorter ramps, one to go onto the platform and the second ramp to come off in another direction where the platform is used as a turning space.
What are the joining supports for?
Our joining supports can also be used to connect two ramps together to create a longer ramp. This may be useful to reduce the weight of the ramp or if the portable ramps are not provided in the length required.
Can I purchase a ramp with handrails?
Our semi-permanent ramps and our WR wheelchair ramps can be purchased with handrails if required.
Can wheelchair ramps include steps?
The Ramp Factory semi-permanent ramps can be provided with steps kits so users can choose to walk up the steps or the ramp. These can also be provided with handrails if required.
What if I need a longer ramp in the future, do I need to buy a full new ramp?
Our roll up ramps can be built to any length which means you can buy additional pieces to add to the length at any point. They simply clip on to your current ramp to create the longer ramp. You can also remove parts to reduce the length if needed.
Is there a ramp I can use to load my wheelchair into my vehicle?
Yes – we have ramps designed to load empty wheelchairs into cars. These are lightweight and folding which makes them easy to move and store. Please note, they can be used with heights up to 666mm. These ramps are channel ramps, however, as they only have one edge on the outside parts they can be used with scooters and electric wheelchairs. You can view them here.
Why are specific cable protectors required for wheelchair users?
Our cable protectors for wheelchair ramp access are built with a gradient that works with wheelchairs. Electric wheelchairs especially have a low ground clearance and so get caught on some cable covers – our cable protectors for wheelchair access ensure this is not the case.
